Bus Trip to 2019 Lancaster Quilt Show sponsored by South Shore Stitchers.

South Shore Stitchers invites you to join a wonderful group of ladies on a bus trip to two quilt shows in Lancaster, PA.

We will be taking sign-ups for members and guest starting in January.

When you sign up we need your check for $40.00 made out to South Shore Stitchers, your phone number and where you wish to be picked up.  Your cost covers your bus fee of $27.00, admission $10.00, and bus driver tip $3.00.  The guild pays the bus fee up front and hopes to get reimbursed for this fee by filling the bus.  Dinner is on your own.

November 2018 Meeting Minutes

November 14th Camaco meeting minutes

34 Members present

Meeting was called to order at 6:00 by  President  Helen S.  It was decided to start with the covered dishes brought by the members to celebrate Thanksgiving.  Nina B gave grace.  

The business meeting  began at the end of supper approximately 7:00 pm.
Helen S called on the following people and committees:

Old business was elections for new board.  Clare J handed out ballots to all members present. Votes were turned in and it was decided to have the balance of non attending membership polled by email with a close to the elections by Sunday.

Email was submitted to all non attending members.  Final results for elections 2019 Board are:
President- Doreen D, Vice President - Bernie S, Secretary - Kate G and Treasurer- Pam N.  Congratulations to all.

Mary Lou P presented Open Sew starting again after the new year.  You may bring a friend and it is a great way to learn new techniques, sandwich quilts or cut out projects.

Doreen D spoke for Programs.  Please bring your pin cushion in a brown bag.  There will be a game.  The annual cookie exchange.is happening.  Bring one dozen to eat and one dozen to exchange on a separate plates/trays.  

Sharon C generated $93.00 with a beautiful basket.  Helen E won the prize.

Donna F presented a new class for a wool wreath to be held in December 1st: 9am - ?? (whenever we finish), Middle Township Senior Center, 23 Romney Place, Cape May Court House. 
Teacher: Linda Keller of Grant Street Wool Works. Cost for all materials and class:  $55 for 10" wreath, $65 for 12" wreath.  Please bring a lunch. Linda will also be bringing wool applique, punch needle and rug hooking kits and supplies.  Call Donna for more information: 609-425-8661

Helen S made note of a new quilt shop is in Audubon,  Early Girl Quilt Company.   They have classes and nice selection of fabrics.  You can check them out  at :  assemblenj.com.

Quilts were then  shown by members at the Showcase.

                                  CAMACO QUILT GUILD MINUTES
                                              OCTOBER 10, 2018 

The meeting was called to order by our  President, Helen.. at 7:35 pm.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Name Badge: $4.50 was collected.

Charity: Eleanor N reported that we have 2 quilts that require longarming.  Two volunteers stepped up to take care of those.  We donated quilts to 2 families of 4 (each a mom and 3 children).  Now we need some smaller quilts for Oasis.  Please remember that Eleanor has batting and backing so reach out if you need supplies.

Program: Just a reminder that our December exchange is a pincushion.  Demo tonight: mitered corners.  Retreat information:  sewing room will have coffee.  Please bring a mug, a snack to share and some additional sewing.  Cut fabric before arriving at the retreat if you plan to do the project.  From Wednesday through Sunday, if you visit the local Country Store and say you are with the CAMACO retreat, you will receive a free gift bag.  

Pillow Case Race:  Bernie surprised us all with a trophy!  We won with 1,170 pillow cases.  Next year the race will be in Tuckahoe: 9/15/19.  Mark your calendars!

Sunshine: Mary is doing better and looking for to the retreatl.   

Ways and Means: Raffle generated $50  

Refreshments: thank you to all who brought snacks and refreshments.  Next month is the Thanksgiving potluck.  Remember to sign up!

NEW BUSINESS

We're back to 7pm meeting time effective December.  Our next meeting for November will be our annual Thanksgiving potluck, so we will meet at 6.  

There will be an open sew on Wednesday, 10/17 from 10-2.  There are no open sew meetings in November or December.  

A donation by CAMACO of $150 to Ryan's Smiles pillowcases was approved.

Gail B announced that there will be a Yuletide Bazaar at First Presbyterian Church of Cape May (at Hughes & Decatur Streets in Cape May) on Saturday, November 10th, from 9am until 2 pm.

Charity: Eleanor N reported that 26 dog beds were donated in June and 10 more over the course of the summer.  Strips are ready to be sewn!  If anyone is interested in sewing strips into blocks, they are available.

Program: Retreat final payment was due earlier in September.  Going early?  Tell Doreen!  Cut fabrics before the retreat.  Itineraries have been distributed.  Bring other projects to work on and also a chair cushion.  Sewing room will open at 11 am on Thursday.  Check in is at 3.  Pillow Cast Race:  Sunday, September 16th.  Meet at ACME at 10am to carpool.  Kits are all prepared.  Bring Lunch.

June 2018 Meeting Minutes

Camaco Meeting Minutes from Wednesday, June 13, 2018.
Meeting was called to order at 7:07 pm by President, Helen Schlereth.  There were no visitors present.
Treasurer’s Report - Pam Nagel reported previous balance is $XXX. The additional monies, mostly retreat funds were $XXXX.  Monies spent were $XXXX leaving a balance of $XXXX.
Name Badge – Collected $4.00 at the meeting.
Charity - Report by Eleanor N:  The girls who received the quilts from last month loved them.  Cape May County Animal Shelter sent a thank you for the last round of dog beds.
CAMACO will be working on the “Rail Fence” quilts created by sewing the 2” strips together to create blocks.  They will be doing this at the open sews.
Programs- presented by Doreen D.
The program committee made a kit for every member to enjoy during the summer months off. Please give them your thanks and bring the finished kits in September.
Speakers for 2019 booked by Eileen I based on the vote of the last meeting is Barbara Vedder.  She will be joining the group on April 9, 2019 presenting “Fun with Barb” and the next day there will be a class Scrap Quilts the Secrets to Success on 4/10/19.  Details will be forth coming.
December gift exchange will be a pin cushion.  Doreen suggested you start thinking of it now.
There are two openings left for the retreat please call Doreen if you are interested.
Please let her know if you are interested in coming in sooner to the retreat as she needs to let the hotel know soon.
“I want to win this year”
Bernie S  spoke about the pillow case drive for Ryan Smiles. 
The date is September 16th.  Please put it on your calendar. 
Reach out to Bernie to let her know you will be joining.
 It should be a fun day.  Bring your own bag lunch.  Silent Auction is fun.

Ways and Means-Sharon C created a basket making $72.00 for CAMACO. Inge K won the basket containing WAWA gift card and passes to HCSV.

Sunshine Committee was not present.  It was recorded Diane D is having a hospital visit for surgery on a leg problem.  Please send her your best.  Note, Clare sent a card on CAMACO’s behalf. 
Also Ana H has welcomed another grandchild and future quilter Eloni on April 2nd.
Open Sew Sandy W announced meetings held on the third and fourth Wednesday of the month.  June 20th bring a fat quarter to open sew to learn the continuous binding technique as taught by Sandy.      June 20 and 27th, July 19 and 25th, August 15th and 22nd

Enchanted Fibers is new in North Cape May in the strip center with Vincenzo Little Italy 2.  Francine is a wonderful instructor and she had contracted for Sam Barsky to come and teach as well.  If you want to knit for a cause SCARF IT UP meets several times during the week.  Please stop in.  CAMACO members receive a 10 percent discount.  Please see the flyers attached.
Cold Spring Quilt and Fiber show is this weekend.  Thank you to all who entered.  There is still room for more quilts.    Thank you we are looking good.
Sue Riech who is the President of the Quilts of Valor nationwide will be the key note speaker.  She is speaking at the second floor of the Cold Spring Grange.  Saturday the topic is WWI quilts with a trunk show.  It is held at 3 pm.  Admission to the Village is required. Sunday the topic is WWII quilts with a trunk show.  It is held at 12 pm.  Admission to the Village is required.
The award breakfast is Sunday at 9:00 am at the Cold Spring Grange.
September meeting we will ask for nominations and form a committee.

May Meeting Minutes 2018

CAMACO QUILT GUILD MINUTES
                                              MAY 9TH, 2018 

The meeting was called to order by our president, Helen S. at 7:00 pm.  The meeting commenced with a demonstration by Kathy Tweed.  Reverse applique as well as a variety of applique techniques.  Thank you Kathy!  We hosted one guest, Cathy.

Charity: Eleanor and Sharon hosted a presentation of beautiful quilts for the girls of Tranquility House.  A representative of Tranquility House attended as well as one of the young residents.  Eleanor thanked everyone for all the 2" strips she has collected.  Next will be a "sew day" to sew all the strips together.  We received a thank you note for pet beds.

Program: Doreen thanked Eileen for arranging such great program speakers!  Thank you Eileen!  Packets for the retreat were available for pick up.  The project quilt top can be done in 1 weekend.  Remember, one dinner is included in the retreat.  Next month we have a surprise speaker.  Remember Bernie is collecting pillow cases.

Sunshine: Our Flossie has passed away.  Services are Friday, 5/11.  All details are available in local papers

Ways and Means: Raffle generated $76.

Over the winter, our guild collected supplies to distribute to quilt guilds around the country that were hit by natural disasters.  We received a beautiful thank you note from the Florida guild.

April 2018 Minutes

 CAMACO QUILT GUILD MINUTES
                                              APRIL 11TH, 2018 

The meeting was called to order by our president, Helen S. at 7:00 pm.  The meeting commenced with a demonstration by Crystal Smith from Needles & Pins which was enjoyed by all.  Twister Quilts!

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Charity: Eleanor N reported that as suggested at the March meeting, quilt tags have been designed and ordered for our charity quilts.  They will be available to view at the May meeting.  ***Please look through stashes and find fabrics that you are willing to part with, cut them into 2" strips and bring the strips to our next meeting.  CARA loves the critters!  18 dog beds were donated.  Quilts are coming for the teenagers!  Eleanor has asked that the membership consider setting up a small budget for fabric.

Program: Retreat deposit of $75 is due at the May meeting.  May and June projects are in the works.  Eileen presented proposed programs for 2019 with ballots for voting.  Please vote before leaving the meeting.

Sunshine: Bev sent a card to Margareta congratulating her on her new home.  A card was also sent to Helen R. wishing her well.  A sympathy card was sent to Bernie on the passing of her husband.  Please keep Bernie in your thoughts and prayers.

Ways and Means: Raffle generated $80  Next month remember to bring in fall holiday themed fat quarters.

Refreshments: thank you to all who brought snacks and refreshments.  Next month:  group birthday celebration cake.
