November 2020 Zoom Meeting Minutes

Hello Ladies,

Doreen D called the meeting to order at 7pm.

Treasurer's Report - same balance as last month $XXXX

All new officers will be taking over January 1, 2021- Joann Infante - President
                                                                                  Nina Bonny - Vice-President
                                                                                  Becky Jones - Secretary
                                                                                  Kate George - Treasurer

Badges still no one for this job, if anyone is interested please contact Joann in January.

Charity - Eleanor reported the following - 16 pet beds delivered, 13 quilts were collected and 10 went out to 6 - Caring for Kids and 4 to CARA.  We are still in need of quilts so keep sewing!

Millman Center Update as of November meeting - is open- we will not start till January.  Capacity is 40 people.  Tables and chairs are set and not allowed to be moved.  Kitchen is off limits.  Masks must be worn for the entire meeting and a list of who attends will be taken.

Joann I will be addressing the Guild in January about up coming membership.

Open Sew - As per Sandra W there will be no open sew until Covid gets better.

Meeting ended with Show and Tell.

Reminder:  There is no meeting in December.

My wish for all of you is to have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

October 2020 Zoom Meeting Minutes

Doreen D called the meeting to order at 7pm.

We had a special guest at our meeting Ray from Cape Regional Medical Center.  Ray wanted to say Thank You from the hospital and staff for the support that we gave them by making masks.  He said that knowing our guild was there to lead a helping hand was so greatly appreciated by all.
Great job, ladies!

Treasurer's Report - Balance $XXXX.  Pam did have to purchase membership cards.

Charity - Eleanor received 19 quilts and 24 dog beds.  She also received thank you notes from CARA and the Shelter.

Bernie announced the New Officers for the upcoming year 2021 and they are:

New Business - Doreen will be attending a meeting on what the Millman Center will be doing in the coming year.  She will go over the information with the guild at the November meeting.

Pillowcases are still be collected and there is going to be a drawing so keep track of how many you turn in.

The meeting ended with Show & Tell.

The November meeting will be a ZOOM meeting and Bernie will be sending out an email for the link so you can join the meeting.

September 2020 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by Doreen D, President on September 16, 2020 at Cold Spring Village.

Treasurer's Report - $XXXXXX balance.

We want to thank Cold Spring Village for letting hold our meeting there.  Also, want to thank Nina B for all her help with picking up and dropping off masks.  Also, thank you to all who made masks for those who were in need.

October and November meetings are going to be ZOOM meetings.  Bernie S will be organizing and hosting the meetings.  A few days ahead of the meeting Bernie will send out an email to you with the  ID and passcode. Please be aware that the invite may say  Cape May City or West Cape May. The meeting should be open 10 minutes ahead of the actual meeting which is on October 14, 2020 at 7pm.

Nominations for new officers were taken.  If you were nominated you will receive an email or call and in which you can accept or decline.  New officers will take over January, 2021.

Dues - For 2021 dues will $28.00 due to COVID(taking in to account missed meetings) and they are to be paid in January.

Charity -  Eleanor delivered 66 beds to the Animal Shelter.  That is a lot of happy dogs and cats!

Programs - Alphabet Challenge was displayed and shown.  All the participates did a beautiful job.  The lucky winner of the Challenge drawing was Pam N.

We had Show and Tell and the meeting was ended.

Bluprint is free until April 16th! 


There's a ton of quilting classes along with many many many other classes! You can take  pasta and pizza making classes, cake and cookie decorating and tons of art classes....enjoy learning for free!!!

March Meeting Minutes 2020

Meeting was called to order by President Doreen D at 7pm.

Treasurer's Report - Balance $5,244.95

Badge - collected $2.75

Sunshine - sent out 3 cards this past month to: Bernadette M, Connie T and Helen S

Refreshments - for April's meeting - Danielle C, Bonny C Diana D, Doreen D and Diane D

Charity - Claire from CARA came to say Thank us for the donated quilts they received and to also tell us who received the quilts.
               We also received Thank You cards from the Animal Shelter and Love of Linda.

               Eleanor N let us know that there are 2" strips for making 9 patches and rail fences for easy quilts.  We also have backing and batting.
               Please contact Eleanor for strips, backing and batting and you can contact Doreen for batting.

Programs - Becky Sheppard did a trunk show of her quilts and talked about Attic Window quilts.  She will be doing a workshop on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 10am to 2pm at the Millman Center and the cost is $25.00. Sign up will be at April's meeting.

                  Enchanted Fibers will be speaking at the April meeting about Color Theory.
                  There will be a class on how to do Trapunto on April 4, 2020 at Cold Spring Village given by Helen Ernst fro 9am to 4pm at a cost of $25.00.  Please make sure Connie Anzelone has your money before the class.

Announcements - Guilds Bus Trip will be September 26, 2020 - going to 3 shopping areas in Lancaster, PA.  The cost is $37.00.  Money will be collected at a May's meeting.
                             Claire J had entry forms for the 30th Annual Cape May Quilt and Fiber Show
                             April's meeting will be starting at 6:30pm.

February 2020 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to ordered at 7pm by President Doreen D

Guest - Joanne I who joined our Guild

Treasurer's Report - Beginning balance $XXXX put a deposit of $200 at Sr. Travel for our bus trip in September - balance $XXX

Badge - collected $4.50

Refreshments - March ladies are Denise B Nina B, Gail B Kathy B, Sharon C

Charity - Block Drive - use 4 1/2" squares to make a 9-patch. Make 2 and they will be collected monthly.  More complete information is on our blog.

               There will also be a sign up for Charity sew on a Saturday to be decided later to sew dog beds, strips to make Rail Fence blocks and sew panels.

Pillowcases - sew 20 pillowcases and get a ticket and there will be a drawing for a prize at the race in September.

Programs - Claire J gave us an informative talk on Trapunto.  Thank you Claire.
                   Enchanted Fiber will be coming to the Guild in April.

Announcements - Garden of Quilts quilt show at Wheaton Village is March 14 & 15. 

                             AQS quilt show in Lancaster, PA is March 25 to 28.  South Shore is running a bus trip, information is on our blog and Facebook.

                             Sonja H is selling her 18" Nova Longarm is you are interested and want information please contact Sonja.

New Business - We will be having a bus trip to Lancaster for shopping on Saturday, September 26, 2020.  Cost $37.00  Sign up was passed around if you were interested in going and also what quilt shops would you be interested in going to.  Money will be collected at May's meeting.
It was brought to the floor by Bev T that our Guild make a donation to Cold Spring Village.  After a group discussion about various amounts of donation amounts it was voted to give Cold Spring Village a donation of $250.00.

Our next monthly meeting will be on March 11, 2020.

January 2020 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7pm by President Doreen D

Treasurer's Report - none was given as our Treasurer Pam N was not at the meeting due to illness

Sunshine - Contact Linda F if you know of anyone who needs a card.

Badge - Diana D collected $3.50

Refreshments - Connie A has agreed to head this committee.  February members to bring a snack are: Sandra W, Sharon W, Betsy Y, Trish Z, Barbara A and Connie A

Charity - Eleanor Ngave us a break down of who received our quilts.  The 2019 totals were: 32 quilts, 5 Critters, 167 Pet beds, 5 NICU blankets.  They were distributed to:  1 - Trang. House, 2 - Haabitat, 10- DYFS, 7 - CARA, 2 - Family Promise, 1 - Love of Linda, 1 - ARC.

Open Sew - is the 3rd and 4th Wednesday of the month and the hours are 9:30am - 4pm

Pillowcase Race - a slight change - every time you turn in 20 pillowcases you get a ticket for a drawing for a gift card that will be drawn at the race that will take place in September.

Retreat - none held in 2020.  It will be October 13-17 2021

Programs - Eileen went over some of the talks and demos that will take place in the coming year.  February meeting Claire J will give a talk on Trapunto.  June meeting - Beth Pulvino will give a talk on making Postcards and September meeting - will be the start of the Round Robin.  Donna F presented the Alphabet Challenge.  This challenge is for those wishing to participate.  You got to pick a letter from the pot and you will interpret that letter in anyway you wish.  Your finished piece cannot be any bigger then 24" but it can be smaller.  Make sure you put a sleeve on the back as they are going to be displayed at the Cold Spring Quilt Show.  They will be due on June 10 our meeting night.

New Business - 2020 Membership dues were collected

Announcements:

Kate G - talked and passed out information on the Block Drive for Quilts of Valor.  Kate is the contact person for collecting the finished blocks if you choose to participant.

Dale W - has the Accuquilt machine.  If you would like to borrow the machine, please contact Dale.

Our February meeting is on the 12th.

Lancaster Quilt Show Bus Trip Information March 28th, 2020

AQS CONVENTION CENTER AND DOUBLE TREE RESORTS QUILT SHOWS
LANCASTER, PA

South Shore Stitchers invites you and your guest to join a wonderful group of ladies on a bus trip to the AQS and Double Tree Resorts quilt shows in Lancaster, PA.

Please make your check out to South Shore Stitchers for $41.00.  When you sign up we need your phone number and where you wish to be picked up.  Your cost covers your bus fee of $28.00, bus driver tip $3.00, and admission $10.00.   The guild pays the bus fee up front and hopes to get reimbursed for this fee by filling the bus.
If you wish to sign up by mail please send your check to South Shore Stitchers, PO Box 1103, Marmora, NJ 08223.

December 2019 Meeting Minutes

December meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by President Doreen Dever.

Guests:  Carol, Dawn, Joanne, and Helen S. (past president).

Helen told us the supply list has been updated  on the blog and Facebook for the Jan 11 Heart Quilt class.  (1/4 yd more fabric needed)

Refreshments:  Clare.  January:  Pam N., Eleanor N., Mary Lou P., Bernie S., Beverly T., Dale W.

Ways and Means:   84.00 collected on raffles.  Bring fat quarters in January for an activity.

Charity:  Eleanor, Joey, Betsy

18 dog (or cat) beds collected.

Programs:  Eileen, Connie, Diane, and Donna

Needlebook exchange took place.  Donna read "The Twelve Days of Quiltness"  Round Robin participants revealed their quilt tops.  In January there will be an alphabet soup challenge. In February Clare will discuss trapunto technique.  In June Beth Povino has a post card idea for a project.

Open Sew:  Joey and Sandy

 Will be back in January on the 3rd and 4th Wednesdays.

Announcements: 

OBATS are holding a Spring "Sit and Sew" April 1-5, 2020, Wednesday to Sunday.  4 nights, 368.00, 3 nights, 291. at the same location as the Camaco retreat.  

QOV Block Drive:  4 1/2 " squares for 9 patch blocks (makes 12 1/2" block for their project).

Louella J. is out of the Nursing Home and now with her daughter.  Her contact info is the same address.

Old Business:  

After discussion over the last 3 meetings, members voted to increase dues to 40.00 (with no payment splitting).  Clare made the motion and Beverly seconded.  Basis is to cover costs of guest speakers and other budget items. 

New Business:  There was discussion about trips other than to local quilt shows, i.e travel to out of state shows.

Supply List and Info for Heart Quilt class January 11th 2020



Happy New Year Everyone!


Anyone else ready to start sewing in 2020?
If you have not signed up and wish to join in on the Heart sewing class January 11th. Get in touch with Eileen I. for all the detailed information.
Here is a list of items to bring to class other than the fabric requirements listed on the previous post.

Supplies:

Ruler for squaring up HST’s (photo below)
Sewing machine with 1/4 inch foot ( and basic supplies for your machine)
Cutting Matt, rotary cutter, plastic template for cutting
Personal iron & mat if you want at your spot- optional since we will have irons set up.
Extension to run iron and machine. We have a few available to use.
Optional- Frixion pen
