Charity committee: Eleanor announced that there is fabric, batting and backing available for anything being made for charity. She has requested placemats would be welcome along with quilts, walker bags, etc.

New business: It was discussed whether we should use the 2nd Wednesday of July & August as a meeting night to get together (no actual meeting) and sew. It was voted to NOT meet the 2nd Wednesday of July & August, but to continue with our normal Open Sew Wednesdays throughout the summer.

Old business: Doreen reported the bus trip will be Saturday, September 10, 2022. First stop will be Burkholder’s and will end at Kitchen Kettle. It is $30/member and $35/guest. We will need to fill a minimum of 40 seats. Sign ups will be at June meeting with payment. Final date to pay by August 15. See Doreen regarding all bus info. Programs: June is the month to turn in your “Tips, Tricks & Techniques” to

program committee. Please share your favorite methods for sewing, quilting, storing, etc!

JUNE is also the due date to participate in the HST challenge! You have received some “ugly” fabric and the challenge is to make it into a (max) 25” FINISHED project with half square triangles as part of the design. So, top, batting, backing and binding is a finish! Hmmmm…placemats would make a good finish …. and a charity piece too!!! (Hint: 18 x 14” is a good placemat size) ….and before you put those beautiful HSTs away, remember we have the… Historic Cold Spring Village Quilt Show: And the challenge is ALL ABOUT HSTs!!!!!! (see below)

Important dates: Show is June 25 & 26. Clare asks that quilt & challenge pieces be in about June 16-17, but no later than June 20th. Please see Clare for information and registration forms. There is also a PDF on the HCSV website. Clare is asking for volunteers to help set up &/or be a white glove lady during the hours of the show. HCSV Challenge will be HST square, no larger than 12 ½” x 12 ½” that will hang in the brewery during the quilt show days. This is to be only the top as the squares will all be sewn together as a quilt at a later date. (See? You can use up your extra hst pieces!) Let’s have a great turn out at HCSV as quilters & volunteers!

Hospitality: Shirley thanked the volunteers for May refreshments & announced names for June refreshments: Bonnie C., Diane DeN., Doreen D., Helen E. and Joyce E.

Show & Tell, chatting & refreshments closed our meeting for May. June 8, 2022 @ 7:00pm is the next meeting.

Added:

****The squares for the HCSV quilt show challenge are to be 121/2" x 12 1/2" so that they will all fit together to be made into a quilt. I mistakenly wrote "no larger than."

Also, at the May meeting we were given a very informative and interesting presentation by the Program Committee on Flying Geese and several different ways that they can be made. Thanks for the presentation, ladies!

See you all next Wednesday! Have a good & sunny weekend.

ConnieSee you there! Connie

FUNNY STORY by our member Shirley: Shirley went to Shoprite on Wednesday to pick up water & iced tea for the meeting. When she went to the self service to pay, the machine wouldn’t accept her cash so she hit the button & called for help. The cashier couldn’t figure out why the light wouldn’t come on & accept her money. A young man at the register next to Shirley decided to help her out….and slipped his credit card into the machine & paid the $5.34 for OUR drinks! He refused to be reimbursed by Shirley. How wonderful to experience the kindness of others!!! Thanks for sharing your story, Shirley!
