November 2023 Minutes

The November meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our President, Donna, at 7:05pm. 

There were 24 members present and 1 guest. 

October minutes were acknowledged & approved with an addenda, which was the addition of Bev Tyler winning the “Committee of Fun” gift at the October meeting. 

The Treasurer’s report: opening balance:$XXXX, 

Badge: 50 cents

Media: nothing to report 

Sunshine: nothing to report

Ways & Means: Kitty’s “Committee of Fun” gift was won by Betsy.


Refreshments: Drinks and desserts will be provided by Ann C, Kitty, Danielle, Diana De & Doreen, our December volunteers.


Charity: Sue T has 67 placemats ready to go to Meals on Wheels for Christmas. The Cape May police will be taking a dozen of our charity quilts to carry in the trunk of their cars. As of right now, we are good for charity quilts.


Open Sew will be on Wed, 11/15 & Wed, 11/29. There will be NO Open Sew in December. 

Programs: December program will begin at 6:00 pm with sandwiches and dessert provided by the guild & our volunteer refreshment committee.


There will be an exchange of mug rugs (any occasion ones), if you wish to participate. Please wrap in a brown paper bag (name tag inside) and decorate the bag as you wish. 

We are asked to bring Christmas items for Show & Tell. 

The program committee asks for suggestions for any programs for the coming year. 

Old business: We held our election for officers for the year 2024. No vote was needed as there was one nomination that was accepted for each office. They are as follows:

Congratulations to our new board! They will begin their term at the January 2024 meeting. Committee sign ups will be held at the January meeting.

October 2023 Meeting Minutes

Camaco Quilt Guild October 2023 Minutes 

10/11/2023 

The October meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our President Donna at 6:34pm. There were 36 members present & several guests. 

September minutes were acknowledged & approved. 

The Treasurer’s report: Opening bal: $XXXX, receipts:$801.00, expenses:$27.23, Balance: $XXXX Badge: $2.75 

Media: nothing to report 

Sunshine: We received a thank you card from Dina Newbert for having her as a speaker in September. We sent a condolence card to Shirley. 

Ways & Means: Collected $136. 

Margareta won a bag made by Kathy B. Kitty gave out purple tickets for her “Committee of Fun” and the prize was a beautiful handmade project bag. 

Refreshments: November volunteers are Dale, Sandee & Sharon W., Betsy, Barbara A & Connie A. 

Charity: Sue asked for volunteers to finish some yoyo quilts. The place mats for Meals on Wheels will go out in December. 

Programs: There will be a mug rug exchange at the December meeting. They should be 5x7” or 8x9” and put in a brown paper bag that you can decorate. A motion was made by Joey & seconded by Clare to have the Guild pay for sandwiches for our members that evening. A vote was taken and passed for approval. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm so we can enjoy the meal together. The volunteers for December refreshments are asked to bring desserts. The committee requests that we bring Christmas projects as our Show & Tell that evening.

 Old Business: Nomination ballots were handed out for the January 2024 election and returned to Pam (VP). Nominees will be contacted by Pam before the next meeting. Voting will take place for new officers in November. They will be installed in Janurary 2024. 

New Business: there was no new business. 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:12pm and our speaker, Janellea MacBeth of Scrapstashtic Quilts began her lecture. 

The next meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild will be on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Millman Center.

The September meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our Vice President at 6:40pm. There were 25 members in attendance.

The June minutes were acknowledged and approved.

Sunshine: Sympathy card sent to Clare.

Ways & Means: Kitty gave out tickets to members for aquilt themed tote bag chance which was won by our speaker for the evening, Dina Newbert.

Refreshments: Volunteers for the October meeting for refreshments are: Pam, Margareta, Bernadette, Eleanor, Bev & Sue T.

Charity: Three yo yo strips need to be finished for charity quilts. Eileen, Pam & Clare each took one. Open sew days will be the last 2 Wednesdays of the month unless notified on our FB page otherwise. Contact Sue Tarrant for any charity questions.

Old Business: Reminder that the bus trip will be Sept 30. There are seats available. Please contact Doreen for any questions. Janellea MacBeth will speak at the Oct meeting. She will also have copies of her book, Scrapstashic Quilts to sell ($22). She will be teaching a workshop for us on Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Millman Center. Show & Tell will be limited to one item per member that evening. It was brought up that if a guest was paying to come to the Janellea MacBeth workshop the next day, would they have to pay to come to the meeting on Wednesday evening to hear her speak? A motion was made by Kitty that no fee is to be charged for Wednesday meeting if a guest has signed up for the workshop on Thursday, seconded by Clare and passed by vote by the group. On Thursday, Oct. 12, the workshop will be held from 9:30-4:30 at the Millman Center. Cost is $30. You can bring your lunch or run out to get something. Doreen has handouts regarding the homework that Janellea requests be done in advance, supplies needed for the class & a free pattern for a sewing mat. Any questions, contact Doreen.

New Business: Nominations for officers will be held at the October meeting. Please think about volunteering for a position on the board. Voting will take place in November & the new officers will take their positions in January 2024.

South Shore Stitchers are having a quilter’s marketplace on Saturday, Oct 14th. They have tables available to rent for $10 or a booth for $25. They will have machines for sale.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:07pm to enjoy our speaker, Dina Newbert who spoke of “I Spy with my Quilt Judge’s Eye.”

The next meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild will be on Wednesday, October 11 at 6:30pm. Show & Tell will be limited to one item per person.

Charity: 12 quilts were gifted to Cape May Police Dept.
There are still 16 on hand. Bags of yo yos and strips will
be available at Open Sew to applique (yo yos onto strips).
In Sept at Open Sew, we can meet to sew the strips
together into quilts.

Sunshine: no cards sent

Refreshments: Marge F, Shirley L, Diane M, Dottie L,
Carol Mac, Margareta P are volunteers for Sept.

Old Business: Doreen will accept money for the Sept bus
trip to Lancaster over the summer. Clare asked for
volunteers for the quilt show.

New Business: Doreen presented Clare with a quilt made
by some of the Camaco members for her retirement.
Programs: Becca Fenstermaker was the guest speaker
after the meeting was adjourned.
Show & Tell: no Show & Tell due to guest speaker.

Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.

Camaco Meeting Minutes

Camaco Quilt Guild May 2023 Minutes 

May 10,2023 Millman Center 

The May meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our President, Donna at 7:06pm. 

The April minutes were acknowledged & approved. 

The Treasure’s report: Old balance: $XXX, Receipts: $XXX, Expenses: $XXXX New balance: $XXXX Petty cash was included in the opening bal. $XXXX. Badge: $XXX

 Media: no new updates 

Ways & Means: Clare won the raffle for the first of Kathy’s beautiful bags (39 blocks sold). Becky will have a basket to raffle off in June and the raffle for the bags will start up again in September. 

Charity: Sue gave 6 quilts to Family Promise and has spoken to the Lower Township Police Dept about donating quilts for the officers to carry in the trunks of their cars for outreach to the community as needed. 

Program: The last BOM will be the June block. Committee is asking that we please make 2 blocks of a pinwheel pattern or 2 of our choice. Colors are to be reds & whites and the blocks should measure out at 8 ½” x 8 ½”. The winner of the May blocks was Winna. Congrats! A project for over the summer will be kitted from Sonja’s stash donations and given out for all to participate. 

Sunshine: no cards sent 

Refreshments: Joey, Eileen, Janet I., Susan J., Nancy J., Becky J. Thank you to the volunteers in April. 

Old Business: Flyers have been distributed regarding info for the Lancaster bus trip being run by Doreen. The info is as follows: Lancaster Bus Trip Saturday, September 30, 2023 Bus leaves Shoprite in RG at 7:30 am, Bus leaves Acme CMCH at 7:45am. The bus will leave for home at 4:30-5:00 from the last shop. Camaco members: $35.00 Non-members: $40.00 Shop stops will be Lancaster Home & Fabric (Weaver) Kitchen Kettle Village Zook’s Old Country Store as well as others You are on your own for meals & there are many places to eat at the Village and in the area. Contact Doreen at 609-226-8606 to sign up or for more info. She will be collecting money for the trip at the June meeting. 

HCSV Quilt Show will be June 24-25. Forms & rules are available online or from Clare. Participants can have up to 5 entries for $15 with a 2 day pass for the show & complimentary breakfast on Sunday morning. For more information on challenge blocks, please refer to Camaco April mins, HCSV website or Clare. 

New Business: We have a speaker for the June meeting. Rebecca Fenstermaker will be giving a lecture on “Unleash your Walking Foot. Our business meeting will begin at 6:30 pm and there will be no show & tell for the June meeting.

April 2023 Meeting Minutes

Camaco Quilt Guild 

April 2023 Minutes 04/12/2023 Millman Center 

The April meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our President, Donna at 7:05pm. 

The March mins were acknowledged & approved. 

The treasurer’s report: XXXX

 Badge: $2.25 

Media: no new business 

Ways & Means: Becky is raffling chances to the donated bags. She has sold 24 blocks to date at $5 each. Hospitality: Joey G., Anna & Frances H., Elena, Joyce H., & Judy H. Please contact Winna if unable to participate. 

Charity: Sue delivered pillows to the Optimist Club & received a thank you. Pillows, placemats & dog beds may still be made to donate. 

Open Sew will be back at Millman in April from 9:30-3:30pm on the last two Wednesdays of the month. The calendar blocks of the month patterns will be available free to anyone interested. 

Programs: The committee is asking that the blocks for May meeting be the disappearing 9 patch, 12 ½” x 12 ½” unfinished in greens & whites. The winner of March BOMs was Karen B. 

Doreen asked if the group was interested in running a bus trip to Lancaster in the fall. Shirley made a motion for $500 for the rental of a bus. Becky seconded and all voted in favor. Doreen will keep us posted on info regarding the trip. 

Doreen gave a demo of a table runner made with bunnies. (See show & tell pics on FB) She gave out fabric and the pattern so we could all make our own. Rebecca Fenstermaker will be giving a lecture at our June meeting on “Unleash your Walking Foot.” 

Sunshine: Nothing to report. Please contact Connie if you have anyone who would benefit from some cheer. 

Old Business: Historic Cold Spring Village Quilt Show will be held on June 24-25. Forms & rules are available online or from Clare. Participants can have up to 5 entries for $15 with a 2 day pass for the show and a free continental breakfast on Sunday morning. 

The challenge will be a 12 ½” x 12 ½” unfinished block that looks like a village type building. It can be applique, patchwork, etc. They will hang in the brewery & be voted on by the public. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the brewery. A tutorial for the blocks will be given at the HCSV welcome center on 04/27 from 10:00-11:00 am if anyone is interested. *After this year, the HCSV quilt show will be every other year. 

New Business: A motion was made by Connie to donate $200 to HCSV, seconded by Pam and voted in favor to donate the money to HCSV in honor of Clare’s retirement. 

Becky announced that there will be a Craft Show at the King Nummy park on June 10th. All benefits go to Green Creek Fire Dept. Free admission if you donate a ($25) gift or basket to auction off. Please see Becky for any questions.

 The next meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild will be Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 7pm at the Millman Center.

Hospitality: Volunteers for March are: Sharon C, Ann

Charity: Susan delivered dog beds to CMCH. We have requests

for soft pillows about 10” square for patients who had recent

mastectomies. You can bring those for the April meeting. We can

continue to make placemats for Meals on Wheels.

Programs: The block of the month for March is the Bear’s Paw in

black, brown & whites. Please make them 12 1⁄2” unfinished.

Open sew will have enlarged patterns and templates for the

calendar project.

Sunshine: Cards were sent to Diane M and Danielle.

Old business: The Ruth Ohol class has 2 seats available. Please

contact Joey if you would like any information on the seats or the

class.


New business: The March meeting will be held at 6:30pm on

Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Ruth Ohol will be speaking at

7:00pm. *There will be no show & tell at this meeting.

Show and Tell: The star blocks of the month (February) were

shown. Please check our FB page to see them and more. Thanks

The January meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our President, Donna at 7:10 pm. The December minutes were acknowledged and approved.

The Treasurer’s report:

The check account signatures were transferred from our previous treasurer to our new treasurer, Clare J along with President Donna F.

Ways & Means: no W & M

Hospitality: Volunteers for refreshments for the February meeting are: Betsy Y, Kitty W, Barbara A, Connie A, Denise B. If you are unable to attend or bring refreshments, please contact Connie A. via text/email.

Charity: Dog beds can be brought to the meeting in Feb to be donated. Twenty placemats were delivered to Meals on Wheels. Reading book pillows were also delivered. Family Promises is looking for twin size or larger quilts for families.

Programs: There is one seat available for the March workshop. Contact Joey. Log cabin blocks were handed in, the winner of the second set of blocks was Doreen. The February block will be a star block in blues with white unfinished at 8 1⁄2”. Remember to make two, pl. One for a charity quilt and one for the raffle.

Sunshine: Condolence for Sue Todd was read. If any one knows of a member who needs a “sunshine” contact, please email Connie A.

Open Sew: 02/15 & 02/22 from 10:00-4:00 Contact Sue T. if any questions regarding the calendar project.

Old Business: Dues were collected in January. Reminder: to be a member in good standing, dues must be paid by the February meeting or you may be removed from the rolls of membership and our FB page. If you forgot to send them in or have an issue, please contact Clare or Connie. The 2023 membership list will be posted on our blog as soon as it is updated. Meanwhile you can continue to use the list from 2022.

New Business: Mary Lou has stepped down as VP. Pam N will finish out the year as VP. Donations for the use of the Millman Center in 2017-2019 was $300/year. They did not charge us for use in 2020-2021 due to Covid. Our donation in 2022 was $500. A motion has been made by Clare that we donate $500 for the use of the Millman Center in 2023. Seconded by Bev T and all present voted in favor.

December 2022 Meeting Minutes

December Meeting Mins December 14, 2022 


The December meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our Vice President, Mary Lou at 7:08pm. 

We had two guests. 

The November minutes were acknowledged with no changes/additions and approved. 

The Treasurer’s report: Old balance $XXXX Receipts: X, Expenses:$XXX New Balance:$XXX 

Badge: no receipts. It was voted a “free” night for all! 

Ways & Means: No W&M 

Charity: We donated 32 placemats to Meals on Wheels for which they were most appreciative. Sue asks that we hold back on the dog beds as shelters have many donations right now. Please don’t bring any dog beds to the January meeting. 

Open Sew will be offering a Calendar Quilt program for 2023. Eleanor will have info regarding a book for the Calendar quilt instructions (with patterns) to buy if interested, but Sue will have patterns each month available for any who wish to participate. You can still attend Open Sew without participating in the Calendar program. Open Sew will be the third & fourth (& if applicable, the fifth) Wednesday of each month from 10:00am-4:00pm. *Please note the new 10am start time. Reminders are posted on our Facebook page each month. January 18 & 25 are Open Sew Wednesdays. 

Hospitality: Shirley thanks the December volunteers for the wonderful Christmas treats and announces the volunteers for January are: Edwina S, Sue T, Connie T, Beverly T, Dale W & Sharon W. 

Media: nothing to report 

Programs: A reminder that there are still seats available for Ruth Ohle’s “Have it Your Way Applique” class on March 9th at the Millman Center. The class is $35/members and $45/nonmembers. Ruth will present a trunk show the night before at our March meeting. Contact Joey for info/payment. *update: all seats are now taken. Programs is presenting a “Block of the Month” program for 2023. The January block will be to make 2 log cabin blocks that are 8 ½” UNFINISHED in earth tones with a red center. One will be for a charity quilt & one for a raffle quilt. You could even make a third block for yourself! There is a pic of the diagram on our FB page. 

Old Business: The Code of Conduct has been voted to be a part of the bylaws. Motion: Joey, Seconded: Linda F., and the vote was unanimous for approval. The bylaws will be posted on the camicoquiltguild.blogspot.com website after the final copy is completed.

New Business: no new business at this time. 

The Program committee presented The Price is Right game for our Christmas meeting which was a lot of fun. So many prizes were won! We had the potholder exchange. The potholders were all beautiful. 

Show & Tell: as always, gorgeous quilts and projects were presented. Please check out the pics on our FB page. Thank you to our Media ladies for their commitment to taking & posting the pictures. We do appreciate it. 

The meeting closed with refreshments & fellowship. Our next Camaco Quilt Guild meeting will be Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Millman Center.

Dues ($40.00) for the year can be paid at the January meeting. You will receive your membership card when paid and we ask that you check the membership list to update any info for our records (change of address, phone #, etc). 

Bingo will be played at the January meeting so bring all those fat quarters you are saving! 

The log cabin blocks (x 2) for January can be turned in to Sue Tarrant/Doreen Dever at the meeting. 

We ask that if you bring items to put on the “give away table”, you take any leftover items home with you at the close of the meeting as we have no place to store them. Thank you!
