September 2021 Meeting Minutes

September 8,2021

Due to the resignations of Joanne I (President), Nina B (Vice President) and Becky (Secretary), the meeting was called to order at 7:07pm by Bev T(Treasurer).

New members: Winna  S and Roxanne D

Treasurers report: balance is $XXXX

Charity: members turned in 36 baby quits, 43 bibs, 5 walker bags and 28 pet beds. 3 quilts were donated. We could use boys or gender neutral quilts. There is batting and labels available through Sue T. At some time in the future, book pillows may be made. Looking for book donations for the pillows.

Refreshments for next month: Doreen D Diane D, Joyce E, Helen E and Linda F.

Bev let us know that Margareta P was being released from the hospital that night.

Badge money collected was $4

Open Sew: there will be a workshop on Oct.27,  9-2, for a small snowman quilt.

Programs:  There will be a guest speaker, Gyleen Fitzgerald, Oct. 13 meeting and a workshop on the 14th. The workshop will be an all day class for $38+$10 for the pattern. The workshop is limited to 20 people. Please contact Dale if you wish to take part.

Nov. 10 Merry May will be our guest. Her program will be “What was she thinking”

Please take note, the Oct and Nov meetings will begin at 6:30. We need to put forth nominations for the 2022 officers in Oct. and vote in Nov. as well as having our guest speakers.

Due to the resignation of the three officers, an executive committee met to solve the problem of the vacancies. They agreed to put before the guild for a vote of acceptance, Pamela N for President and Donna F for Vice President. Becky J agreed to remain on as Secretary. These volunteers will finish out the current year. By a majority vote the nominees were accepted since there were no other nominees from the floor.  Bev thanked Joanne I for stepping up as President last December.

There will be a Disciplinary Committee formed to determine if any action is required.

Bev brought up that we need to look at and update the bylaws: especially changes that could be added to avoid the current situation. Possible additions: having the 2 meetings of the Board in January and June to stay on track, requiring a member to be in good standing at least 2 years before holding office.

The members voted and reaffirmed the expenditure for guest speaker Gyleen Fitzgerald.

A reminder that members can view the bylaws on Camaco Quilt Guild website under MEMBER INFORMATION.

There was also a reminder that Camaco’s Facebook page is for positive quilt related things as well as birthday wishes for members.

Bev encourages members to step up and volunteer to help our group such as run for office or volunteer to be on committees. She asks us all to look through the membership list and make a list of people to put forth as nominees for the officers and committees. These people will be contacted to see if they’re willing to be on the ballot.

Respectfully, Pamela N

Treasurer report,

Currently there is a total of $XXXX  No expenses this past month that were due.  Joanne indicated the high amount was achieved because it included last year's monies that was not utilized due to the pandemic.

Charity:

Sue reported a request for baby blankets be donated for a baby shower that will be happening in Wildwood during the month of Sept.  Sue indicated she will be collecting the blankets in Sept.; Sue has some fabric available for this charity.

9 Dog beds are being delivered.   32 is the total so far this year and we are only half way thru the year. GREAT JOB LADIES

OPEN SEW is now open every 3rd 4th 5th Wednesday from 9am to 2pm for JUNE.  During JULY/AUG, it will be EVERY Wednesday from 9am to 2pm at the Millman Center.

RETREAT:  Sue has been diligently searching for places to have this event.  Certain criteria are needed to clarify where to have it either Cape May or Lancaster PA,.  Forms were distributed to each of us to fill out with this information.  At the end of the night, all forms were returned to Sue.  During the summer months, Sue will be going over the data collected from the meeting and will let us all know the outcome in Sept.

Programs

Dale announced some really great speakers for fall, Merry May from Dollard Bakers in Marmora, is one that was announced, she has done a program for another guild in Pa that went well.  The row-by-row quilts are coming along.  Dale thanked everyone who has contributed their time to help them quilt, bind, and sew together. Some were shown and ALL will be displayed at the Cold Spring Village Quilt Show. The members who had done rows, had received charm packs as a way to say thank you. HELP is still needed for binding and quilting.

Karen had done a short demo on binding around a toilet paper roll.   It was an easier way for us to not have the binding laying all over the ironing board, or all over the room.

MEDIA:  NO NEW UPDATES.  Helen will be taking pictures tonight to put up on Facebook

SUNSHINE: Linda Finch not present but is able to be emailed.

Veronica from Enchanted fibers, her father passed away.   Dales’ mother-in-law had passed away.  CONDOLENCE information is to be Emailed to Linda so she will know.  A thank you note was sent to the guild from Veronica on the passing of her mother. Without our support and friendship, she wasn’t sure if she could go thru with all this.

Monday Bev Tyler is having her knee replaced

COLD SPRING VILLAGE QUILT SHOW

Cold Spring village information.  The show information was announced.  If anyone wants to donate a quilt to show in the showcase, contact Claire on her  cell, or tx her at 609-425-9823.  She will be more than glad to pick these up for your convenience.   Help is needed on Saturday and Sunday for the show.  Sunday is the brunch for helping. NOT EGGS BENIDICT but just a small thank you for your participation.

NEW BUSINESS:

Joanne has put in for the use of the building for the entire year.  Usually, we don’t meet during JULY AND AUG., but, because the entire year has been paid for, we now have the opportunity to utilize the millman center during these two months.  It would be when we would hold our usual meetings. 2nd Wednesday of each mo 7pm to 9pm.   No business mtg but anyone who wants to use the facility one time a month, will be able to.   One volunteer is needed to coordinate something for July and someone to do something for August.  IF NO VOLUNTEER IS ANNOUNCED in 2 weeks, then this time will be handed back to the township so then can fill the facility.   SUGGESTIONS for using the facility 1 time a month would be an example of   Pillowcase races, charity night to do baby blankets, The evening get together for CAMACO in July and August are incase someone works during the day and can not make it to open sew,  then they have the opportunity to use the Millman center at night from 7pm to 9pm.

MEETING ENDED 7:29pm.

Row by Row Info February 2021

Here is the Row by Row Information:

Every member is encouraged to make one row of quilt blocks to equal 48 inches wide

If the finished size of your block is 12” (12 1/2” before joining together) you will need 4 blocks for a 48 “row.  6 - 8” blocks = 48”, 8-6” blocks =48”. Keep in mind your blocks should be squared up 1/2 inch larger than your finished block size. If your blocks are a different size you could add sashing to make your row measure 48 inches.

These rows will be sewn together into Row by Row quilts by the program committee members.

This is a great project to get everyone involved in contributing to charity quilts without committing to an entire quilt.

Of course we encourage you to continue making quilts if you can.

Please use good quality fabric, cheerful colors recommended. If you need fabric, Susan T..... Has some strips and squares.

Dale will tell us at a later date on when and where to drop our rows off. But we like to have them be done the end of March.

***When you drop off your row, you receive a special “thank you gift” that will be a fun new challenge project.🇺🇸 ****

Any questions email Dale.

Thank You  Programs
