Camaco Quilt Guild
February 14, 2024
The February meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by
our President Eleanor N at 7:04pm. No guests were present; 25
members in attendance.
Kitty W, Vice President, stood in for Secretary Carol M, due to her absence because of illness.
January 2024 minutes were acknowledged and approved as presented.
Treasurer’s report: Opening balance on hand $XXX; dues collected
at meeting $120; Ways & Means $55.00.
No badge person in attendance.
No media-Helen and Denise both out. Elena agreed to take pictures.
Sunshine: Joann A and Connie B have agreed to serve as this committee.
Hospitality- Winna thanked tonight’s volunteers, Linda F., Donna F.,
Frances & Anna H. Refreshments for 3/13/24 are Dottie L, Diane
M, Pam N, Eleanor N and Bernadette P.
Clare gave an update on Carol’s status. She is home and receiving
palliative care. Her prognosis is a few weeks remain. The family is very
appreciative of our continuing support.
Eleanor opened a discussion of asking for a replacement for the vacant
secretary position. Kitty asked for a motion to approve her doing two jobs
which are not approved by the by laws. Doreen assured the membership
that the Vice President may stand in, short term for an absent officer. A
general decision was made to ask for a volunteer to either be Vice
President or Secretary for the remaining ten month term. Kitty will take
whichever job is not taken.
Charity, Sue T announced she has pillow forms for reading pillows as
well as a supply of books.
Ways & Means. Pam sold $55 worth of tickets for the Camaco Guild bag
and a ten-needle threader, won by Sue T.
Committee of Fun- Diane M won the Valentine themed chatelaine
and chocolates.
Open Sew announced a single Open Sew on February 21.
Program Committee: Reminder of Mystery Quilt March 20th. Seventeen
people have signed up. Cost $10
Joey asked for membership ideas on creating a new Camaco Name Tag.
Turn ideas in March.
A “Quarter Inch Test” kit and instructions sheet was demonstrated and
distributed.
A “bag of applique ready hearts” were distributed to highlight the accuquilt
cutter which will be demonstrated at the March meeting by Elena.
Joey presented a sample of a handout for a Mason Jar block. Karen has
asked that the membership provide a completed quilt to her in September
for the food pantry to raffle off at their fundraiser in October. For each block
submitted, a ticket will be given for entry in a drawing for a prize.
Joey presented a hand out setting out specifics for a Round Robin quilt
challenge. A sign up sheet is available for those wishing to participate.
Elena and Doreen presented many examples of borders to be utilized in
that challenge.
Joey announced a virtual program for April, a U-tube presentation entitled
“Conquering Mr. Scrap-more.”
New business: Dale gave a congratulations to Elena for her one woman
show at Enchanted Fiber as well as the article about Helen in Quiltfolk
Magazine. The magazine may be purchased through Helen’s Facebook
page at a 20% discount.
Eleanor started the “Introduce Myself” to the group. A very inspiring show
and featured many items which can be viewed on the Facebook site.
Refreshments proceeded a fun- thread the needles on a spool of thread
race monitored by Doreen. Winners received a packet of needles.
