January 2015 Meeting Minutes

January 2015 Minutes

Committees:

·      Charity  If you have any novelty fabric you are willing to part with please cut it into 6 inch squares and donate it to the charity committee, they will be making kits for members to use for charity projects.

·      Program

o   Danielle and Inge L are organizing an Easter egg project to be made at the March meeting, they request everyone bring in small scraps of Easter color fabrics. There will be more details at the February meeting. 

o   A “Staycation Seminar” is planned for Saturday February 21st, free of charge for all members. Donna Robertson of FabricCafe.blogspot.com* will do a presentation on three yard quilts. Please bring a finger food and your own beverage, and enjoy some friendship and learn a thing or two from Donna! The presentation is at Noon at the West Cape May Borough Hall where our meetings were held previously. *This is not a “workshop” there won’t be any sewing at this event, just a nice afternoon with friends to talk about quilting and gather some inspiration.

o   The 2015 Magazine Challenge will be announced at the February meeting. Please bring a magazine of any kind that can be destroyed to the meeting. Helen and Denise will explain how the magazine will be used in a project due in September.

·      Ways & Means – Do you have fabrics you are tired of and don’t like anymore? Please consider donating them to the guild in ½ yard pieces or 2 FQ bundles. They will be organizing a sale in the future to benefit the guild. They will be collected at the meetings.

·      Retreat – Sign up is open for the Quilt Retreat in Lancaster, PA at the Continental Inn on Oct 22nd-Oct 25th, hosted by Camaco and the Obat’s again. Please see Doreen to get your name on the list, a $75.00 down payment will be due in May, there’s no money needed now to put your name on the list! The retreat project is Debbie Maddy’s Labrynth, the pattern is included in the retreat fee so don’t purchase one. When you sign up, you will receive more detailed info about what’s included in the price. A few additional meals are added this year. There is a page on the sidebar with 2015 retreat info and prices.

New Business:         Helen suggested we donate to the Millman Center for use of the beautiful facility we use with no charge. $300 for this year was suggested and Helen also proposed we also include $300 for last year too because we overlooked a donation. Floss S made a motion we donate $600 to the Lower Township Millman Center, Gail B and Shirley H second the motion, and the motion was unanimously passed.

Meeting notes:          We enjoyed a snowman themed meeting with a demo on “Snowvester the Snowman” wall hanging by Geri P and lots of snowpeople themed show n tell. Dues for 2015 was collected.

Lancaster Quilt Show Bus Trip with South Shore Stitchers



South Shore Stitchers would like to invite CAMACO quilters and their guest  to join us on a bus trip to the AQS quilt show in Lancaster. 

Saturday March 14, 2015

 The cost is $36.00 for the bus trip, driver tip and admission to the show.  

This year we will be stopping at the Continental Inn for their quilt show, admission is free. then we will go to the convention center for the AQS show. 

 Dinner will be on your own.

December 2014 Minutes

December 2014 Minutes

Thank you:     CASA put a nice article in the Atlantic City Press about our donations for them.

Committees:

·      Charity           Margareta reminded everyone that there are premade pillowcases for the dog beds, they will be available at the meetings. The DAV used the pillow cases for their Christmas wrap again this year the kids said it was their favorite part of their presents! Great job Camaco ladies!

·      Program         Gail and her committee have planned a snowman themed program for January’s meeting. Geri P will demo her snowman wall hanging. If you have a snowman quilt you’d like to share bring it to the meeting. The committee is also planning a few speakers and workshops for 2015. There is a workshop planned for February 21st at the West Cape May Borough Hall, there will be more info on that at the next meeting.

·      Sunshine        Helen reported that Lois C could use some sunshine after an accident and has decided to not keep her membership with Camaco. Diane D is still recovering from back surgery. Flossie S could also use some sunshine due to an infection she’s fighting.

·      Ways & Means           A raffle was held for 2 $25.00 gift certificates, Geri P and Joey G were the lucky winners.

·      Refreshments            Bernie advised she will be in touch with the people responsible for refreshments for the January meeting.

·      Retreat           Doreen advised she was mailing in the down payment to Continental for the retreat in October

New Business:           Helen advised the liability insurance for Camaco is due and will be renewed in January. Also the rental agreement for the Millman Center is due to be renewed for 2015, she will be handling it. Membership dues are due in January they are $30 and are due by the end of January. In February membership will be opened for new members if we have not met our 60 member limit.

Meeting notes:           Doreen demonstrated a quick table runner, Danielle shared a quick Christmas ornament and Denise shared a pre cut honeycomb coaster for wine glasses. All are great gift ideas for the holidays. We exchanged pot holders, had our cookie exchange and had a nice bag of cookies to take home.

Next Meeting notes:  Bring any snowman projects you would like to show and share with the guild. $30 membership dues.
