Information From the Retreat on Half Square Triangles


2015 Quilt Retreat Was So Much Fun!

Now that everyone who made the Labrynth Quilt at the retreat is an expert on hst's here's some inspiration for making more creative quilts!


Chelsey and Denise shared information on using hst's at the retreat, how to make them with different methods including multiples at one time. They also shared how many different layouts there are once you get spinning the square and changing up the colors. Below are the links they used to gather the info they shared, along with a link to the handout they shared at the retreat.

Recipes from This Month's Meeting


Meringues



1/4 to 1/2 lb. dried fruit of your choice. Remember dried fruit.
1/2 to 3/4 cup diced nuts
4 egg whites
1 1/2 cups sugar

Beat egg whites to very stiff. Add sugar keep beating to keep stiff.
Add fruit and nuts
Drop on parchment paper covered cookie sheets. 

Bake in slow oven and on lower racks at 300F about 25 to 30 minutes

Pam's dip recipe:

Pumpkin Cheesecake Dip


8 oz. cream cheese(softened)
8 oz. cool whip (thawed)
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 cup pumpkin purée
1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

Put cream cheese and cool whip into bowl and mix  on med. speed till smooth (about 2 min)
Keeping on med. speed, mix in pumpkin purée, powdered sugar, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla until combined.
Place into bowl of choice. Sprinkle with cinnamon and chopped pecans if desired. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes.

September 2015 Meeting

Joyce E. for picking up the quilt display racks that Stone Harbor Wet Lands donated to CAMACO.

CASA will be hosting a Community Awareness event on October 22nd at the Wildwood Country Club. Anyone interested in attending contact Helen E. by 10/5/15 for details.

With nominations and elections coming up, committee members gave a quick explanation of their position duties while in office. Doreen D. also mentioned how the election process will be run.

There is still room if you and a guest to join in on the retreat! Contact Doreen D.


For Octobers Meeting:

     *Nominations ballots will be handed out. Please consider nominating yourself or someone else in the group—it is an easy way to give back without investing allot of time, for something we all receive so much from! If nominated, you will be contacted to see if you are willing to run. Anyone can do any of these positions. 
     
*Inge L. will be demoing how to make a fleece stuffed Turkey Door Stop-Supplies needed are:
          -Binder Clips
          -Sharp fabric and paper scissors
          -Polyfil 
          -Tacky Glue
          -Pebbles to weight the bottom
          -Black felt pen
Fleece, button and felt will be provided


Reminder-South Shore Stitcher’s Quilt Show is Oct 16-18 at the Upper Community Center.
