January 2018 Minutes

  CAMACO QUILT GUILD MINUTES
    JANUARY 10TH, 2018 



The meeting was called to order by our president, Helen S. at 7:10 pm.
There was one guest: Nina.  Thank you, Nina, for joining us!

Treasurer's Report:  Helen R. thanked Karen M for all her past work and the outgoing board and membership for the opportunity to serve.
    Balance:  $XXXX.
     Insurance has been paid.  We earned a lot of money last meeting with our silent auction:  THANK YOU SHARON!  
    MEMBERSHIP:  most members have already registered and paid.  Thank you to all the helpers!

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Name Badge: $2.50 was collected.

Charity: Eleanor Neff reported that we received a "thank you" from CM Animal Shelter and from CARA.  Eleanor is working with Family Promise to determine their needs.  She will keep us advised.  Attention Knitters/Crocheters: wheelchair blankets are needed.  Connie A reported that Cape May Animal Shelter is in need of blankets.  Bring blankets to our meeting and Eleanor will deliver them along with our dog beds.  
Remember:  quilt kits are available!

Program: Doreen reported that the committee has not met yet.  Tonight she will be presenting a demonstration and a pattern for Valentine's Day.  February meeting:  BINGO! Bring fat quarters.  

April we have a speaker scheduled: Michelle Renee Hiatt.  There will be a trunk show with a class the next day, Finley Spence.  Cost:  TBA.  20-25 people can sign up.  The class is during the day.  Stay tuned-more details to follow.
RETREAT: will be 10/25-28.  Sign up sheet is available.  Class is modified hunter star.  Saturday night dinner is buffet.  Friday night: salad and pizza.  Doreen will give pricing next month.  Deposit will be due in May with balance due in September.

Sunshine: Margretta has been sick since her surgery and wanted to send regards to everyone at the Guild.  Flossie is still at Crest Haven.  Joanne K's husband passed away on 1/3/18.  Our condolences to Joanne.  Bev is sending a card.

Ways and Means: Raffle income $97.

Refreshments: thank you to all who brought snacks and refreshments.  Next month:  Veronica, Bernie, Bev, Dale W, Sandy W and Barbara W.

NEW BUSINESS

Clare J., Vice President, addressed the membership, thanking the outgoing board for all their work.  Thank you gifts were presented by Clare.

Our new president, Helen S., introduced the new board:

Old Photos:  should old photos be retained or disposed of?  Denise and Helen R. will put them all on disc.  They will sort through them.

Show & Tell:  do we want to do a "runway?" Two people will hold up quilts so that everyone can see and the maker will discuss their quilt.  The membership agreed we should try it.

We need 3 people for a bylaws committee.  One board member will participate and a final newly updated version will be posted to the website.

Membership:  Clare suggested that we add "headshot" photos to our membership list.  All agreed/approved.

Bulletin board:  a news bulletin board was introduced at the meeting.

    Completed 29 UFOs:  Eleanor N
    528 square inches of quilting:  Joanne K

New member waiting list:  we currently have 65 spaces and 65 members, however, some members may not renew.

New longarm repair company was introduced.

Dee T is currently in a nursing home.

Open sew sessions will not include demonstrations.  Next open sew:  double wide Dresden.  Class will start around 11:30.

A Valentine's Day project: heart potholder was demonstrated and the pattern is up on the blog.

Our next meeting is February 14th at 7pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.
