May's Meeting Minutes


May 2015 Minutes

Meeting started:        7:00pm May 10th

Committees:

·      Charity           Margareta reported there will be a cutting day at the Millman Center Tuesday June 23rd at 1:00pm, all members are welcome to help cut fabric for charity projects that will be distributed to our members that want to take advantage of donated fabric to use in their charity quilt. Bring cutting supplies.

·      Program         Gail reminded everyone there will be a workshop Thursday June 11 at 9:30am, we will be making a quilt designed especially for us by Jeanne Dumphy called Beach Balls in the Sand. The pattern features an inset circle technique that’s a technique requested by our membership in a survey conducted last year. The cost is $15.00, can’t beat that!! It will be held at the Green Creek Fire Hall. There’s info about workshop supplies and pre cutting directions posted on our blog. Bring a snack/pot luck lunch item to share and what you want to drink.

·      Ways & Means           Joey advised they are still collecting fabric for the sale in October. They will also take other items besides fabric, related to sewing. The fabric should be at least ½ yard and marked with the size. They will take fat quarters also.

·      Refreshments                        Bernie thanks everyone for their delicious donations for our refreshment table we have some great bakers!



New Business:
Clare reminded us the Historic Cold Spring Village Quilt and Fiber Show is June 27th & 28th, she would love to have everyone participate by submitting quilts. Here is the link for the information to submit quilts and participate.  Clare will accept any quilts at June’s meeting if you would like to give them to her then.  Thank you Clare!

Meeting Notes:          Jessica Sketulty of quiltyhabit.blogspot.com presented Modern Quilting Elements, she explained what the elements of modern quilting is and presented many beautiful quilts she’s made with modern elements.



Next meeting’s notes:           Wednesday June 10th, Speaker Jeanne Dumphy will present "Where To Start-My Approach on Color and Design"  Please Limit show and tell to one item per member.
