The September meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild was called to order by our Vice President at 6:40pm. There were 25 members in attendance.
The June minutes were acknowledged and approved.
The Treasurer’s report:
Open balance: $XXXX, receipts:$XXXX, expenses:
$XXXX, New balance: $XXX
Badge: $2.00
Media: nothing to report
Sunshine: Sympathy card sent to Clare.
Ways & Means: Kitty gave out tickets to members for aquilt themed tote bag chance which was won by our speaker for the evening, Dina Newbert.
Refreshments: Volunteers for the October meeting for refreshments are: Pam, Margareta, Bernadette, Eleanor, Bev & Sue T.
Charity: Three yo yo strips need to be finished for charity quilts. Eileen, Pam & Clare each took one. Open sew days will be the last 2 Wednesdays of the month unless notified on our FB page otherwise. Contact Sue Tarrant for any charity questions.
Old Business: Reminder that the bus trip will be Sept 30. There are seats available. Please contact Doreen for any questions. Janellea MacBeth will speak at the Oct meeting. She will also have copies of her book, Scrapstashic Quilts to sell ($22). She will be teaching a workshop for us on Thursday, Oct. 12 at the Millman Center. Show & Tell will be limited to one item per member that evening. It was brought up that if a guest was paying to come to the Janellea MacBeth workshop the next day, would they have to pay to come to the meeting on Wednesday evening to hear her speak? A motion was made by Kitty that no fee is to be charged for Wednesday meeting if a guest has signed up for the workshop on Thursday, seconded by Clare and passed by vote by the group. On Thursday, Oct. 12, the workshop will be held from 9:30-4:30 at the Millman Center. Cost is $30. You can bring your lunch or run out to get something. Doreen has handouts regarding the homework that Janellea requests be done in advance, supplies needed for the class & a free pattern for a sewing mat. Any questions, contact Doreen.
New Business: Nominations for officers will be held at the October meeting. Please think about volunteering for a position on the board. Voting will take place in November & the new officers will take their positions in January 2024.
South Shore Stitchers are having a quilter’s marketplace on Saturday, Oct 14th. They have tables available to rent for $10 or a booth for $25. They will have machines for sale.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:07pm to enjoy our speaker, Dina Newbert who spoke of “I Spy with my Quilt Judge’s Eye.”
The next meeting of the Camaco Quilt Guild will be on Wednesday, October 11 at 6:30pm. Show & Tell will be limited to one item per person.
Respectfully submitted,
Connie A
