February 2015 Minutes

Charity Regarding
the novelty fabrics that charity asked for, they are requesting that not all
fabrics be cut up into 6 inch square so it can be used for sashing or backing.
March 24th 1-4pm at the Millman Center, there will be a charity sew
day to organize the projects and donated fabric for this year.
We will be
making quilts for children of CASA, pillowcases for the DAV and dog pillows for
the animal shelters in the area. We will not be collecting placemats at this
time.

Program Inge
advised for our March meeting we will be making a patchwork Easter egg and we
will need to bring Easter colored fabrics small scrap size, scissors, and one
of the following, tiny crochet hook, stiletto, stylus or small knitting needle.
The Styrofoam eggs will be supplied by the guild.
Bev advised at
our meeting April 8th Teresa Fusco
will be our guest speaker and talk about "A Quilter's Journey-50 and
Older-Better Than Ever".
Thursday
April 9 – We will be hosting a workshop on " Raw Edge Appliqué" with Teresa Fusco, the cost
is around $30 if we get 15 sign ups. To be held at the Historic Cold
Spring Village Welcome Center. For more information on Teresa's style and

had knee surgery.

Refreshments Bernie advised the guild will be supplying
the beverages for meetings so when it’s your turn to supply refreshment please
bring a snack of some type to share.
Ways & Means Over
the next several months you can bring in any yardage or fat quarters you would
like to donate to our Fabric Sale that we are planning for the October meeting.

Challenge
Please join us for a fun challenge project! Stretch your skills and
imagination by playing along! Use the guidelines below to join in the fun.
There will be awards and prizes.

Tear a random page out of any old magazine.

Write your name on the page.

Use the colors on that page to make a quilted project not more than
24X24 inches.
4 Use all the colors, 2
or 3 colors, but only colors on that page.
5 Make a pot holder,
table runner, a tote bag, a wall hanging or anything you'd like.

Traditional or modern. Use your favorite technique or learn a new one
like appliqué, embroidery, beading or anything else you can dream up.

Please label your quilt on the back with a title, year and your name.

challenge is due at the September meeting

Old business: Helen
reminded everyone that South Shore Stitchers is running a bus trip to the
Lancaster Quilt Show Saturday March 14th. The info is available on
the blog and was sent out in an email in February.
Meeting notes: We
enjoyed demos on strip quilting and awesome show n tell.
Next meetings notes: March’s meeting we will be making a
